What is "purging" after a facial and is it acne?!

Purging after a facial refers to the process where the skin may temporarily experience an increase in breakouts or blemishes following a facial treatment. This occurs due to the deep cleansing and exfoliation of the skin during the facial, which can bring underlying impurities to the surface. Purging typically lasts for a short period, usually a few days to a couple of weeks, and is considered a normal reaction to the facial treatment.

On the other hand, acne breakouts are the result of various factors such as excess oil production, clogged pores, bacteria, hormonal changes, or inflammation. Acne breakouts can occur spontaneously and are not necessarily related to any specific treatment. They can persist for an extended period and may require specific acne-fighting products or treatments to address them.

In summary, purging after a facial is a temporary reaction to the treatment, while acne breakouts are a more persistent skin condition caused by various factors.
